Two teenage boys, 13 and 15, attending a quinceanera party Saturday night were stabbed during a fight just before midnight in the 1300 block of Sonora Street, according to Madera Police. Both boys were taken to a Fresno hospital, where the 13-year-old died from his injuries. The current condition of the 15-year-old has not been released.
Officers are not certain if either of the boys had established gang ties but believe the motive for the stabbing incident may be gang-related.
Madera Police Chief Gino Chiaramonte called the stabbings tragic and senseless, expressed his condolences to the family, and asked for any witnesses to the incident to please come forward.
”Your cooperation will be crucial in bringing closure to the victim’s family and ensuring justice prevails,” Chiaramonte said. “We are working diligently, following all leads, and canvassing the area for additional evidence. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact MPD Dispatch at (559) 675-4220, 24/7 or you can call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP. You can remain anonymous.” he said.
