A memo released internally on Tuesday by the office of CEO and President Nancy Hollingsworth of Saint Agnes Health announced the Fresno hospital was in talks with Madera Community Hospital to explore an affiliation. The memo indicated the two health agencies had entered into a “non-binding letter of intent,” and had many other evaluatory and regulatory approval steps before any final agreements can be reached. Hollingsworth said no further information was available at this time and the process was expected to take several months to work through.
Many Madera residents welcomed the news saying the small local hospital had recently had experienced many challenges with short staffing, retention of qualified personnel, and the updating of equipment.
